Vehicle Description: Light duty pickup trucks.
Description of Defect: The transmission bracket end fitting can separate from the shift cable assembly, resulting in inability of the operator to shift the transmission from one of the drive gear positions into the park position.
Consequence of Defect: This condition can result in unintended vehicle movement if the parking brake is not set.
Corrective Action: Dealers will install a new transmission shift control cable.
Owner Notification: Owner notification began Oct. 6, 1997.
Note: Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673.
