March 5, 2014 Twin-Star Recalls Duraflame Electric Space Heaters Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves Duraflame-branded electric space heaters, model DFS-220, sold in three colors, black, red and white. The heater's flame effect resembles a fireplace and works with or without heat. The heaters measure about 14.5 inches high, 13 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The on-off switch and the high/low heat settings are located on the upper left back side of the unit. The Duraflame logo appears on the front of the unit. The model number can be found on a white label located on the heater's back panel. Read more.


May 15, 2013 Optimus Recalls Portable Electric Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves two models of Optimus Infrared Quartz Radiant heaters with model numbers H-5210, produced in 2011 and H-5211, produced in 2012. The model number and the year of production appear on a label on the back of the heater. The recalled heaters are white and are approximately 12-inches wide by 13-inches tall by 6-inches deep. "Optimus" is printed on the top left of the heater. The control knob is located on the top right side of the heater. Read more.


May 9, 2013 Family Dollar Stores Recalls Optimus Tower Quartz Heaters Due to Overheating and Fire Hazards

Optimus Tower Quartz Heaters are portable electric tower heaters that are about 10 inches wide, 25 inches tall and 9 inches deep. The heaters have a white metal casing with a white plastic top, a wire cage protecting the heating elements and vent slits at the bottom. The front section of the top has the brand name Optimus, a power light, a caution light and two dials. One dial turns the heater on or off and selects the power of either 750 watts or 1500 watts. The other control knob selects the heat range between high and low. The rear section of the top has fire, high temperature and shock warnings and diagrams of the heater being used in 750 watt mode and 1500 watt mode. Model number "H-5232" is on a silver sticker on the bottom of the heater below the words "Optimus" and "Quartz Heater." Read more.


February 8, 2011 Lasko Recalls Portable Electric Heaters Due To Fire Hazard

The portable, electric, tower heaters are 20.5 inches tall x 8.25 inches wide x 9.25 inches deep. They are dark grey with silver front covers and black vent slats. The brand names Lasko or Air King are on the top, center of the front cover. The Lasko Model 5540 and Air King Model 8540 subject to this recall were manufactured in 2002 and have date codes that begin with a "2." The date code is on the label located on the bottom of the unit. The date code is a four-digit number on the bottom left area of the label, above the voltage number. Heaters with date codes beginning with "3," "4" or "5" are not subject to this recall. Read more.


March 4, 2009 Ritchie Immersion Heaters Recalled By Springfield Wire Due to Shock Hazard

This recall involves the Ritchie Immersion Heaters with model numbers 17863 (120v/250w), 17939 (240v/250w or 240v/325w), and 17940 (240v/325w). The immersion heater is designed to be submerged in a cattle trough to keep the water from freezing. The model number along with “SWI” is printed on one side of the heating element and a sticker reading “Ritchie Specialty Products” is found on the other side. Read more.


May 1, 2008 QVC Recalls Space Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

The recalled heater is a 1,500 watt, black or charcoal-colored, canister-shaped space heater with three heat settings. The unit is about 25" high x 10" in diameter (not including the wheels). The words "SoleusAir 360 Micathermic Heater" are printed on a label located on the front of the unit. Read more.


February 20, 2008 Portable Electric Heaters Recalled by Aloha Housewares Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves electric oscillating tower heaters with the name “Aloha Breeze” printed on the top. The white heaters have model number 02044 and dates codes 06/06, 06/07, 06/08 or 06/09. Model numbers and date codes are printed on the silver label located on the back of the heater, near the bottom. Read more.


August 30, 2007 Berko Electric Toe-Space Heaters Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

The recall involves electric, toe-space heaters typically installed in kitchens and bathrooms at floor level in the recessed space under cabinets. The recall includes Berko Electric catalog numbers TS, TS-1 and TS-1A and Emerson Electric "Chromalox Comfort Heating" and "Environmental Products" catalog number KSH2000. The heater is controlled by a wall thermostat or a thermostat mounted on the front of the heater. The heater has a removable, black metal grille that measures 23 1/2 -inches wide and 3 1/2 -inches tall with five sets of openings, each with seven horizontal louvers. Read more.


January 5, 2007 Family Dollar Stores Recalls Oscillating Ceramic Heater for Fire Hazard

The recalled heater is a 1500 watt oscillating ceramic heater. The heater has a white plastic housing with the name "Heat-Wave" in black on its top. A label on the product contains the control number "ETL 3090262." Read more.


January 26, 2006 Fire Hazard with Oscillating Heater Sold in Wal-Mart Prompts Recall

The recalled model is CH920. The ceramic portable electric heaters are the oscillating tower type. They are grey and have a control panel attached to the top of the unit. "Maxi-Heat™" is printed on the control panel. The model number is printed on the ETL label on the bottom of the back side of the unit. Read more.
