November 12, 2015 WakaWaka Recalls Adapter Kits Due to Electrical Shock, Explosion, Fire Hazards (Recall Alert)

This recall involves WakaWaka electrical adapter kits. The kits allow consumers to charge their electrical equipment using AC current. The components of the kit are black in color and include the adapter, a U.S.-style two-blade plug, a European-style two-prong plug, a USB cable and ten different types of connectors. "Travel Charger, Input 180-240VAC, 50-60Hz, 0.2A, Output 5.0V-500mA" is imprinted on the front of the unit right below the pins on the adapter. Read more.


May 21, 2015 Vivint Recalls Remotec Dimming Switch Modules Due to Shock Hazard (Recall Alert)

This recall involves Vivint's Remotec plug-in dimming and on/off switch module, model ZDS-100US. It was sold separately or in home automation alarm systems that remotely control lighting and home appliances and act as a repeater that amplifies wireless signals. The off-white module plugs into the wall and measures about 5 inches long at the top and 4 inches long at the bottom, 2.45 inches high at the center and 1.39 inches wide at bottom. It has electric outlets on both sides and signal strength indicators at the top. Recalled modules have the first four digits of the serial numbers ranging from 1115 through 1440. April 28, 2015 Whistler Recalls Jump&Go Portable Jumpstart and Power Supply Units Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Jump&Go Portable Jumpstart & Power Supply 12V power supplies, with model numbers starting with WJS-3000. The pocket-sized jumpstart power supplies measure about 5.1 inches tall x 3 inches wide x 0.9 inches deep; and were sold in red, black, yellow and pink. They have detachable jumper cables; built-in high output LED flashlight with emergency flashing patterns; and a USB port to charge phones, tablets and cameras among other electronic devices. The Jump&Go and Whistler logos are printed on the front of the unit. Recalled units have date codes in YYYY/WW format from 201404 through 201439. The model number and date code are on the back of the unit under the colored silicone boot. The date code is stamped directly on the case adjacent to the operational label. December 18, 2014 Schneider Electric Recalls PowerPact J-Frame Circuit Breakers Due to Fire, Burn, Electrical Shock Hazards

The recall involves PowerPact J-frame molded case circuit breakers with thermal-magnetic trip units. The circuit breakers are made of black plastic and have a three-position breaker handle that indicates whether the breaker is off, on or tripped. The recalled circuit breakers are rated for 150 to 250 amps, have interruption ratings of D, G, J, L and R. They were manufactured in two pole and three pole configurations with either lug-in/lug-out or plug-in (I-Line) style connectors. Brand name "Schneider Electric" or "Square D" is on a yellow sticker above the breaker handle and on the top of a label on the side of the circuit breaker. A label on the front of the circuit breaker to the left of the breaker handle has the catalog number at the top. The number also appears on a label on the side of the breaker. Schneider Electric catalog numbers begin with "NJ" and Square D catalog numbers begin with "J." A label on the front of the circuit breaker to the right of the breaker handle has the date code in the lower right corner. Recalled circuit breakers were manufactured from March 26, 2014 through September 26, 2014 and have date codes 14131 through 14395. The date codes are in the YYWWD format (example: 14131 = year 2014, week 13, day of the work week 1/ Monday). December 2, 2014 Eaton Recalls Electrical Meter Breakers Due to Shock Hazard (Recall Alert)

This recall involves MBED 3042 series residential meter breaker. The meter breakers are service entrance equipment systems that consist of a single meter socket and load center or a meter socket and main breaker combined in one enclosure. The meter breakers have gray metallic enclosures and measure about 14 ¼ inches wide by 42 ½ inches high by 7 inches deep. The recalled units have catalog numbers MBED3042B200BF, MBED3042B200BF6, MBED3042B225PV or MBED3042PV200BF. The catalog number is located on the unit's packaging. The enclosures have a single warning label on the bottom of the lower right compartment door, which is secured with a latch and hasp at the bottom. November 20, 2014 Tyco Fire Protection Recalls Simplex Fire Alarm Control Panels Due to Failure to Activate (Recall Alert)

The recalled Simplex 4100ES Fire Control Panel is an addressable fire alarm control panel that can support up to 2,500 addressable points, fire alarm and emergency voice communications and peer-to-peer networking operations. The metal cabinets containing the panel are red or white and measure about 22 inches to 56 inches in height, 24 inches in width and 7 inches in depth. September 10, 2014 American Honda Recalls Gas-Powered Generators Due to Impact Hazard and Owner’s Manual Error (Recall Alert)

This recall involves the 2014 Honda gasoline-powered EU7000isN AT generator. The recalled model is a 7,000-watt generator. It is red with a black metal frame, folding handles and two wheels on the side opposite the handles. The generator measures about 33 1/2 inches long by 26 1/2 inches wide by 27 1/2 inches tall with the handles folded. "Honda," "FI" and "EU7000is" are printed on the side of the generator. "Honda" is also on the front of the generator above the control panel. The full model name "EU7000isN AT" is on the UPC label near the fuel level indicator on the top of the generator. Recalled generators have a serial number in the range EEJD-1000001 to EEJD 1006288. The serial number is on the inside of the side cover that is to the right of the control panel. Read more.


March 18, 2014 Schneider Electric Recalls Square D-Brand F and K Frame Circuit Breakers Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Square D brand models FA, FH, FI and FY one-, two- and three-pole circuit breakers rated 15 to 100 amps, and model KI two- and three-pole circuit breakers rated 110 to 250 amps. The F model breakers were manufactured May 8, 2013 through June 10, 2013 and have date codes 13193 through 13241. The K models were manufactured May 2, 2013 through June 21, 2013 and have date codes 13184 through 13255. The date codes are YYWWD format (example: 13184 = year 2013, week 18, day of the work week 4/ Thursday). The circuit breakers have a yellow label with the words "Square D" or the Square D logo. October 30, 2013 Southern Telecom Recalls A/C Adaptors for Polaroid Internet Tablets Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Big Lots

The recalled adaptor, also commonly referred to as a charger, was included with the Polaroid PMID709 seven inch Internet tablet (also known as the PMID709KB). The adaptor has two prongs for plugging into an outlet on one end and a wire leading to a single plug for the tablet. A label on the bottom of the casing near the plug prongs has "Polaroid Power Adaptor" printed on it with the model number SX-30017-D. Read more.


October 24, 2013 Crate and Barrel Recalls Finley Hanging Pendant Lamps Due to Fire and Shock Hazards

This recall includes Crate and Barrel Finley Collection pendant lamps with a white or wheat (off-white) linen large, small drum or rectangular lamp shades. They have a 9-inch long silver electrical wire with tandem metal support cables and chrome-plated steel ceiling plate. The large lamp with SKU number 684-069 or 684-077 measures 12 inches high and 28 inches in diameter, the small lamp with SKU number 676-384 or 440-755 measures 12 inches high and 20 inches in diameter; and the rectangular lamp with SKU number 322-067 or 322-423 measures 14 inches high, 12.25 inches wide and 30 inches long. The lamps are illuminated by two 60-watt bulbs. The SKU number can be found on a white label inside the ceiling plate. Read more.
