Statement by CPSC Chairman Hal Stratton on the Passing of Former CPSC Chairman Susan King- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Hal Stratton issued a statement after the death on Thursday of former CPSC Chairman Susan B. King.
CPSC Holds Public Hearing in Phoenix on Swimming Pool Safety - As part of its efforts to reduce the rate of child drownings, and deaths and injuries due to entrapments in pool and spa suction outlets, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) today is holding the second of two public hearings this summer on pool and spa safety. Today’s hearing is in Phoenix, Ariz. The first hearing was held in Tampa, Fla., on June 21, 2004.
Marshall Field’s Recall of Fire Pit Spark Screens- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target Corporation, of Minneapolis, Minn. is voluntarily recalling about 430 Sean Conway Fire Pit Spark Screens. The fire pit spark screen can catch fire when it comes into direct contact with a flame, posing a burn and fire hazard to consumers.

CPSC Announces Recall of Metal Toy Jewelry Sold in Vending Machines; Firms agree to stop importation until hazard is eliminated- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), four toy jewelry importers today announced the voluntary recall of 150 million pieces of toy jewelry sold in vending machines across America. CPSC has determined that some of this toy jewelry contains dangerous levels of lead, posing a risk of lead poisoning to children.
