January 4, 2005- The Step 2 Co. Recall to Repair Toddler Swings
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Step 2 Co., of Streetsboro, Ohio is voluntarily recalling about 9,300 toddler swings. The straps on these swings could break, causing a child riding in the swing to fall to the ground and suffer injuries.
December 16, 2004- Swing-N-Slide® Recall of Extra-Duty and Heavy-Duty Swing Seats
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Swing-N-Slide® Corp., of Janesville, Wis. is voluntarily recalling 72,000 extra-duty and heavy-duty swing seats. A manufacturing defect can cause the metal grommet securing the seat to break. If this happens, the user can fall to the ground.
July 12, 2004- Playworld Systems Inc. Recall to Repair Swing Sets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Playworld Systems Inc., of Lewisburg, Pa. is voluntarily recalling about 1,500 Arch Swings and Arch Swing Add-A-Bays. The weld between the side arch support and the top rail can fail. If that happens, the swings can collapse, causing children on the swings to fall and be injured by the falling top rail.
May 27, 2004- Backyard Products Recall of Swings
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Backyard Products™, of Collingwood, Ontario, Canada , is voluntarily recalling 47,600 Backyard Products Swings. Chains on the swing can detach during use and cause the child to fall to the ground and possibly suffer injuries.
February 5, 2004- "Mega Rider" Swings Recalled by Swing-N-Slide
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Swing-N-Slide, of Janesville, Wis.,is voluntarily recalling about 1,220 Swing-N-Slide "Mega Rider" Swings. The plastic handle on the Mega Rider swing could crack at the seat connection allowing the metal connecting rod to pull out. If this occurs, a child on the swing could fall to the ground.
November 12, 2002- Miracle Recreation Equipment Company Recall of Public Playground Equipment Swing Seats
Miracle Recreation Equipment Company, of Monett, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 22,000 Slash Proof Swing Seats. The recalled swing seats are made of blue polymer material with "Miracle M" embossed on the topside of the seat and an "M" on the underside above the date code. Miracle Recreation Equipment Company sold the swing seats nationwide from June 2001 to September 2002 for use on public playground equipment.
June 5, 2001- Swings on Backyard Gym Sets Recalled By Hedstrom®
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hedstrom® Corp., of Bedford, Pa., and their subsidiary Backyard Products, of Collingwood, Ontario, are recalling to repair about 190,000 Star Cruiser® and Rocket Rider® swings on backyard gym sets. Screws that hold the swing together can fall out, causing the seat to fall to the ground, posing an injury risk to children.
October 3, 2000- Playground Swings Recalled by Playworld Systems
Playworld Systems, of Lewisburg, Pa., is recalling about 370 playground swing sets for repair. These swings are called the Aluminum 2-Seat Arch Swing, model 0288 and the Add-A-Bay Arch Swing, model 0375. The swing sets are made of 3-1/2 inch aluminum tubing and come in a variety of solid colors. Playworld Systems sold the swings from February 1998 through May 2000 for between $640 and $975.
September 2, 1999- Trapeze Swings Recalled by Backyard Products
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Backyard Products, of Ontario, Canada, is recalling its 60,000 "Acrobatic Swings," sold with backyard gym sets in the U.S., for in-home repair. These trapeze swings have exposed bolts that cause serious lacerations to children.
November 12, 1998- Bedside Cradles and "Henry" Gym Sets Recall
Two product safety recalls were conducted by firms in cooperation with the CPSC. W.C. Redmon Co., of Peru, Ind.,is recalling about 1,800 "Cuddle Me Close" bedside cradlesfor repair. The legs on the cradles can become loose and can separate, causing the cradle to tip. Menard Inc. of Eau Claire,Wis., is recalling about 8,000 "Henry" Gym Sets, model #68.It includes two swings and a glider. If assembled incorrectly, the glider support tube on these gym sets could bend or break, causing the riders to fall or be thrown from the glider.
January 5, 1998- Glide Rides Recalled by Hedstrom
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Hedstrom Corp. of Bedford,Pa., is recalling about 1.5 million Glide Rides, sold withbackyard gym sets, for in-home repair. The Glide Ride's"J-bolt" assembly can break, causing children to fall ordrop to the ground and be injured.
April 24, 1996- Star Cruiser Swing on Backyard Gyms Repair by Hedstrom
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC), Hedstrom Corporation of Bedford, Pa.,is offering a modification to 180,000 metal and wood backyard gymsets that will fix a potential flip-over problem with the sets'Star Cruiser two-passenger swing.
