May 28, 2003- Update of O-Ring Fire Sprinklers Recalled by Central Sprinkler Company
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Central Sprinkler Company, an affiliate of Tyco Fire Products LP, of Lansdale, Pa., are announcing a modification to the voluntary replacement program announced on July 19, 2001. The company is replacing 35 million Central fire sprinklers that have O-ring seals. The program also includes a limited number of O-ring models sold by Gem Sprinkler Company and Star Sprinkler, Inc. totaling about 167,000 sprinkler heads. Under the original recall program, consumers were required to use Central contractors. Now, after notifying Central in advance and completing certain forms, consumers also can hire their own contractors and be reimbursed for all or some of the labor charges.

April 25, 2003- American Household Inc., (Formerly Sunbeam Corp.) Recall of Star ME-1 Dry Fire Sprinklers, Administrative Lawsuit Settlement
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and American Household Inc. (AHI), formerly known as Sunbeam Corporation, of Boca Raton, Fla., today announced the nationwide recall of about 60,000 Star ME-1 dry fire sprinklers. Chemetron Corporation, an inactive subsidiary of AHI, manufactured these sprinklers from 1977 through 1982. This recall announcement follows the resolution of an administrative proceeding filed by CPSC on October 9, 2001, in which CPSC alleged these sprinklers are defective and are likely to fail to operate in a fire, thereby exposing consumers to the risk of death or serious injury.
July 19, 2001- Central Sprinkler Company Recalls O-Ring Fire Sprinklers
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and Central Sprinkler Company, anaffiliate of Tyco Fire Products LP, of Lansdale, Pa., are announcing a voluntary replacement program. The company will provide free parts and labor to replace 35 million Central fire sprinklers with O-ring seals. The program also includes a limited number of O-ring models sold by Gem Sprinkler Company and Star Sprinkler, Inc. totaling about 167,000 sprinkler heads.
August 4, 1999- Star Fire Sprinklers Recalled by Mealane
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Mealane Corp. of Philadelphia, Pa., is voluntarily recalling up to 1 million "Star" brand fire sprinklers manufactured from 1961 through 1976. These sprinklers could fail in a fire, exposing the public to bodily injury or death. These sprinklers have been installed nationwide, primarily in nursing homes. They also may be found in hospitals, schools, resorts, stores, office buildings, warehouses and supermarkets.
October 14, 1998- Omega Fire Sprinklers Recalled by Central Sprinkler
The U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC) and Central Sprinkler announced today thenationwide recall of approximately 8.4 million Omega brandfire sprinklers manufactured since 1982 by Central SprinklerCorp. and its subsidiary, Central Sprinkler Co., ofLansdale, Pa. CPSC alleges that Omegas are defective andcould likely fail in a fire. This recall announcementfollows the resolution of the lawsuit filed by theCommission staff against these companies on March 3, 1998.
