August 15, 2002- Steam Iron Recalled by Proctor-Silex
Proctor-Silex of Glen Allen, Va., is voluntarily recalling approximately 970 electric steam irons. The recalled irons (model 17520) are made of purple and white plastic. The "Proctor Silex" trademark is displayed on the side in white letters. The iron was packaged in a white cardboard box with gray lettering, labeled, in part, "EASY PRESS IRON....Model 17520.....Series A1320." The model number 17520 and the series number are located on the back side of the iron, at the bottom. Shopko and Auchan stores sold these irons from May 2002 through June 2002 for about $18. They were manufactured in China.
November 16, 1998- Entertainment Units & Soldering Irons Recall
Two product safety recalls were conducted by firms in cooperation with the CPSC. AIG Designs Holding Inc., ofAlpharetta, Ga., is recalling about 1,200 entertainmentunits. The light fixture in these units can have exposedwiring, which could cause a fire or cause serious shock orelectrocution. Custom Accessories Inc. of Niles,Ill., is recalling about 20,000 Electro-Tek soldering irons. The internal connections in the soldering iron arenot insulated, presenting a shock and electrocution hazard.
October 6, 1998- Skil Hammer Drill and Onika Iron Recalls
(1) S-B Power Tool Co., of Chicago, Ill., is recalling about 150 Skil model 6464 hammer drills. A wiring problem presents the possibility of an electric shock or electrocution in these drills. (2) Bargain Wholesale, of City of Commerce, Calif., is recalling about 7,000 units of the Onika Steam/Dry Spray Iron. The irons have inappropriate size wiring, which can cause a fire.
