September 27, 2005 - W.C. Wood Company Inc. Recall of Upright Freezers and Single Door Refrigerators
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), W.C. Wood Company Inc., of Ottawa, Ohio is voluntarily recalling about 112,000 Automatic Defrost Upright Freezers and All-Refrigerators. The defrost heater coil can become exposed inside the units, which poses a potential shock hazard to consumers. In some cases the exposed heater wire can also melt, or burn the unit’s interior plastic food liner.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), W.C. Wood Company Inc. ofOttawa, Ohio, is announcing a voluntary recall torepair 345,775 chest freezers. The freezer's lock mechanismcan be forced open without a key. Therefore, if a child opensthe freezer and climbs or falls in, the lock could re-latch,trapping the child inside.
