October 21, 1999- Portable Heaters Recalled by Holmes Products
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Holmes Products Corp., of Milford, Mass., is recalling about 45,000 heaters. The thermostats in some of these heaters are improperly positioned, which can cause them to overheat, posing a fire hazard.
August 18, 1999- Home Heating & Air Conditioning Components Recall
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Trane Company, of Tyler, Texas, a division of American Standard Inc., is voluntarily recalling 9,900 accessory electric heaters. These heaters are used to provide supplemental heat in heat pump or electric heating systems. Whether in the cooling, fan, heating or off mode, incorrectly routed wires can cause the accessory heater to continually cycle on and off. Excessive heat could catch nearby combustibles on fire.
April 7, 1999- Oil-Filled Electric Heaters Recalled by Lakewood Engineering
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lakewood Engineering & Manufacturing Co., of Chicago, Ill., is recalling about 23,000 low-profile, oil-filled electric heaters. Over time, the electric heating element in the heater could come into contact with the metal frame. This poses an electrical shock and electrocution hazard to consumers.
October 7, 1998- Portable Heaters Recalled by Royal Centurian/Sovereign
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC), Royal Centurian Inc. and its affiliateRoyal Sovereign Corp., both of Englewood, N.J., are voluntarilyrecalling about 39,300 portable heaters. The mechanism whichrotates the heater side-to-side can wear through the insulationof electrical wiring inside the heater's base. In addition, someof the connections between the electrical wires and othercomponents inside of the heater may be faulty. Either of theseconditions can result in a fire.
July 9, 1998- Electric Baseboard Heater Thermostats Revised Rating & Recall by Honeywell
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Honeywell Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn., is revising the rating of 26,000 electric baseboard heater thermostats and recalling about 2,600 of the devices in the United States. The thermostats are used only on electric baseboard heaters. Thethermostats were rated at a higher wattage than they are able to handle. If too much power runs through the thermostats, they can overheat, presenting a potential fire hazard.
April 8, 1998- Heaters and Humidifiers Recalled by Honeywell
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC), Honeywell Consumer Products, ofSouthborough, Mass., is recalling about 1.6 million heaters soldunder the Duracraft brand name, about 8,000 heaters sold underthe DeLonghi brand name and 150,000 humidifiers sold under theDuracraft and Honeywell brand names in the United States andCanada. The heaters and humidifiers can overheat, presenting afire hazard.
October 23, 1997- In-Wall Heaters Recalled by Cadet Manufacturing
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Cadet ManufacturingCompany of Vancouver, Wash., is recalling about 190,000electric in-wall heaters. Limit switches within theseheaters can emit sparks, presenting a fire hazard.
September 17, 1997- Maxi-Heat Electric Heaters Recalled by King of Fans
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), King of Fans of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is recallingabout 5,000 portable electric heaters. The heater's cover can separatefrom the bottom housing and expose live electrical parts, presenting shockand electrocution hazards to consumers.
August 27, 1997- Portable Baseboard Heaters Recall by Duracraft
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Duracraft Corp. ofSouthborough, Mass., is recalling about 50,000 portablebaseboard heaters. The fan of the model CZ-520 heater couldbecome stuck causing it to overheat, posing a fire hazard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC), Fasco Consumer Products Inc. ofFayetteville, N.C., is recalling approximately 661 Dayton Model4E154 Electric Ceiling Heaters. The heating element terminalscould expose consumers to fatal electric shocks or fires.
